Strength Academy vs TrainHeroic
TrainHeroic is a respected strength-and-conditioning platform, but coaches switching to Strength Academy point at three gaps: nutrition (Strength Academy builds macro targets and food logging into the same app; TrainHeroic essentially has none), business tools (booking, email marketing, CRM and a website builder are included), and a coach-side interface that feels modern rather than dated.
TrainHeroic has deep roots in team strength & conditioning and a well-known program marketplace.
Where Strength Academy is different
Nutrition is in the same app as training
TrainHeroic is training-only — athletes who want nutrition coaching need a second app, and coaches lose visibility. Strength Academy gives every athlete TDEE-based macro targets and food logging by search, barcode scan, photo or voice, plus recipes and shopping lists, with AI meal plans on Athlete Premium. Nutrition consistency shows up next to training data, where a coach can actually use it.
A business layer TrainHeroic never built
Strength Academy includes session booking with Stripe payments and calendar sync, service tiers billed in six currencies, a drag-and-drop coach website with lead capture, an email marketing hub, automations, and a revenue dashboard with affiliate tracking. On TrainHeroic, monetization centres on the marketplace — the client-business plumbing (leads, campaigns, bookings, tiered subscriptions) lives in other tools.
A coach experience that doesn’t feel dated
The most consistent thing coaches told us: TrainHeroic’s coach-side interface shows its age. Strength Academy’s coach dashboard is modern and fast — drag-and-drop program building with reusable template weeks, one-click program assignment, per-athlete analytics, and timestamped video feedback with voice notes — on web and a fully capable mobile app.
The whole athlete, not only the session
Beyond workout logging, Strength Academy athletes track readiness (sleep, fatigue, stress), pain on a body heatmap, mobility scores and bodyweight, and connect Strava, Polar, Garmin, WHOOP and Oura. Coaches see recovery context alongside completion and volume — useful for S&C decisions TrainHeroic’s data can’t inform.
