Starter sheet · video feedback

Give video feedback without a full camera roll

Where clients send videos, what to ask for, how to review in one block and how to reply with one cue. For coaches whose phone is full of clips.

Get the video review sheet

Use it for one week of client clips: ask for them once, review in a fixed block, answer in three lines and write down what you kept. Type your email and the PDF opens right here.

We keep your email and what you asked for, and may write to you about it. Write to us and we delete it. See the privacy policy.

Where it hurts

Clips arrive by message, in every app and at every hour, and they land between your own photos. By the time you find the set you meant to answer, the reply is late. Nothing is wrong with your phone: nobody decided where a video goes or when you look at it.

How it gets fixed

The five steps below settle the where and the when: one place for videos, one lift and one angle, a fixed review block, a reply in three lines. The review sheet turns them into the message to send your athletes, the block minute by minute, a line for a clip that is no use and a tracker for the week. Video Review in One Block goes further: the camera position for each main lift, the order to work the queue, how to choose the one cue, the rules for a new athlete and for one who never sends, and what to keep.

Switch on Video Feedback in an athlete’s program settings (it is off by default) and they can film from an exercise in that program, so the clip sits beside the sets, reps and weight they logged and nobody has to name a file. Open Activity, then Videos, then Pending to see those clips. Clips sent in a chat message do not land there. The app clears submitted videos after 30 days, so save the ones you want to keep.

In Strength Academy the athlete sends the clip inside the app. You draw on a frame and reply with text or voice.

Five steps and a reply that fixes one thing

These five steps work with any chat app. The reply at the end is an illustrative example, not a client.

  1. Pick one place for videos and tell every client. A clip sent anywhere else gets the same reply: “Send it there and I will look today.”
  2. Ask for one lift, one angle, about ten seconds: the top set, filmed from the side. In a chat app, ask them to type the lift and weight with the clip.
  3. Review in a fixed block, not as clips arrive: about 20 minutes, once or twice a week, with the athlete’s log open beside the clip.
  4. Reply with one cue, in the three lines below. A long reply is read once and forgotten.
  5. Keep one line in the client’s notes. Delete the clip from your phone unless you will use it next week.

What I saw: your hips rise before your chest on the second rep. One cue: push the floor away, chest up with the bar. Next set: same weight, film the last rep only.

The real screen. The clip, the sets it belongs to and the reply box share one card, and the Pending filter is your review block.
