Coach question · updated 15 October 2026
Is there a coaching app that shows volume and intensity while you build the program?
Yes. In Strength Academy’s week builder an Insights panel sits beside the week you are writing. It shows that week’s volume in kilograms and the average intensity of the main lifts as a percentage of 1RM, each with the change from the previous week, worked out from that athlete’s own maxes. It updates as you edit, so you see a jump in load before the athlete trains it, not after.

What the panel counts
Volume as you write
Volume adds up the kilos of every set with a known load. Percentage sets count too, converted with the athlete’s 1RM. Sets without a known load add nothing rather than a guess.
Intensity of the main lifts
Intensity is the average percentage of 1RM across the main lifts, weighted by sets: snatch, clean, jerk, squats and pulls. Each one shows its number of sets and average percentage.
Movement balance
Sets are also counted by pattern: legs, pull, push, core and full body. A week that drifts towards one pattern shows up straight away.
Week over week and across the cycle
A small chart shows volume across the loaded weeks. The Analytics view lists weekly trends with miss rate and a lift breakdown, with charts of programmed reps per lift each week, and the cycle planner shows working sets and average intensity for each phase.
And after they train: planned against done
On each athlete’s Analytics tab the same numbers run week by week across the whole plan, programmed load next to what the athlete did, with the miss rate and a lift breakdown.

How other apps handle it
Most coaching apps show volume after athletes log their sessions, in a separate analytics or progress area. Strength specialists such as TeamBuildr, TrainHeroic and BridgeAthletic have strong reporting on completed training.
As of October 2026 we have not found another coaching app that documents volume and intensity live beside the week being written. If yours does, email us and we will update this page.
Limits worth knowing
- The main lifts are the weightlifting lifts plus squats and pulls. Bench press counts under push in movement balance, and deadlifts count as pulls.
- Templates have no athlete and no maxes, so there the panel shows working sets only. Kilos and intensity show on an athlete’s plan.
- Strength loads are in kilograms. Pounds are only available in the CrossFit workout builder for now.
